My New Challenge

Here we go, we are embarking on new adventure and challenge again. During our last trip to Albuquerque Brennan not only saw the retina specialist that he has been seeing for over a year but he also saw a pediatric ophthalmologist who checked his eyes and prescribed him glasses. The doctor told me that most kids do not like glasses and that Brennan would most likely fight them for a week at least. I made a big deal about picking them up from the post office, I let him hand the orange slip to the man and then let him carry his package out to the car.I explained to him that his cool new blue glasses were in that box. We came home and opened the box and he got to try them on. I made a fuss over how good he looked in his cool glasses. I am surprised at how little of a battle I have had so far but the novelty may wear off and then I may have more of a battle. I have tried to keep him busy and distracted today to help him ease into this new part of his world. I was dreading this so much but I know it is what is best for him and I am hoping that the glasses will improve his vision and help him accomplish what he wants to despite the disease in his eye. This has been an unexpected journey that our family has taken over the last year and a half.I am thankful for the awesome doctors that have helped our family and pray that Brennan may continue to improve.

Mickey Mouse

Yeah! I finally found a Mickey Mouse for Brennan. I have been looking everywhere for one that didn't talk, bend, sing and so one( very hard now days to find a soft one that does nothing but look cute.). I found this one a couple of weeks ago and figured that since Brennan has to have surgery in Albuquerque this week that this was the perfect week for Mickey Mouse to join our family. Brennan was very excited when I showed him my great find and could not wait to get home so I could take the packaging off and he could hug his new treasure.

Our New Arrival

Caitlyn Anne Tedford arrived on Monday, August 25 via c-section. She weighed 6 lbs and was 20 inches long. Big sister, Ashlynn couldn’t be prouder and thinks that she needs to hold her little sister constantly unless of course she feels the need to ride her bike. Brennan on the other hand was not quite so sure about being a big brother, he is struggling with the fact that Mom can’t pick him up right now and gets very frustrated. He is starting to show some interest in her the last few days and always wants to know where she is. I think he is starting to settle into his role as big brother, much to our relief. Caitlyn is such a good baby, she only cries when she is hungry and sleeps four hours at a time during the night, Yeah for Mom! We are so blessed to have a new princess in our home and are very grateful for her safe arrival and look forward to watching her grow.

Ashlynn and Brennan waiting for the 4th of July parade

Ashlynn and Brennan were anxiously waiting for the parade to begin which despite their record the big town of Silver City managed to start it on time. They both got all dressed up their special 4th of July outfits and I convinced Brennan that he really needed to wear his hat. They both had a great time and enjoyed the candy that was thrown their way. Brennan really enjoyed the candy part especially when he figured out how to go get the candy, he learned you got more that way and the kind you wanted. Brennan also enjoyed the big trucks especially the fire trucks and even danced to the band. Ashlynn joined the cheerleaders when they stopped to cheer. Later that day they enjoyed eating and watching all of the out of shape" daddies" play softball at the church picnic. Overall they enjoyed the day and I had fun watching them as they took it all in especially Brennan becasue he has become so independent.
